Exactly fifteen years after his debut and Via Nocturna's first release, Fabian Filiks drops his gimmick to deliver an album nothing short of remarkable. Inspired by the music of Angelo Badalamenti, Charles Ives, and Alfred Hitchcock films, "Vertigo" is a story of self-exploration. An album deeply rooted in the author's dark ambient / neo-classical past. With dark jazz undertones and heavy use of synthesizers, "Vertigo" depicts a man in an eerie and dreamlike landscape of a derelict urban fabric...

With dark jazz undertones and heavy use of synthesizers, "Vertigo" depicts a man in an eerie and dreamlike landscape of a derelict urban fabric. Inspired by the works of Angelo Badalamenti and Charles Ives, Fabian Filiks tells us something about himself that he never did before. And thus making this album the soundtrack to a real-life psychological thriller.

Some nice atmospheric funeral doom here, with My Dying Bride-influenced gothic undertones. Good variety of material rather than uniformly melancholic sonic monoliths. Most of the songs build from fairly gentle beginnings to heaving crescendos. Of particular note is second track, Weakness, an acoustic guitar-led funereal tour-de-force. Sonny92

one of the best death doom bands so far. great melodies with great atmospheres. mostly slow, heavy and doomy but sometimes there are these groovy double-bass drum moments wich are pretty fucking cool. if you like death doom and melodic atmospheric black metal, this is for you. Sælzer Bub
